Method:
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line two 18-20cm cake tins (you can use one 20cm cake tin for a single layer cake but adjust the baking time to around 50 minutes and a skewer comes out clean).
-
Place all dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl and stir with a whisk to combine and remove any clumps. Then all all remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly until well combined.
-
Evenly distribute cake batter into your earlier prepared cake tins and place in the oven to bake for 25-30 minutes and until springy and a skewer comes out clean. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
-
Once completely cool, layer and top the cakes with the Chocolate Orange Cups or follow the below instructions for a thicker frosting.
-
Combine 1 Chocolate Orange Cup, cocoa powder and icing sugar in a large mixing bowl and beat with an electric beater on full speed, until you're left with a slightly runny frosting. Place frosting in the fridge to thicken for at least 20 minutes before frosting the cake.
